Home / Guides / New Boiler Cost
The cost of a new boiler depends on the type of boiler, the work needed in your home and the brand. The best way to get an accurate figure is a survey and a written quote.

Combi, system and regular boilers differ in cost and in the work they need.
Larger homes need more powerful boilers.
Different makes offer different warranties and features.
Moving the boiler, new flues, pipework or controls can all add to the job.
Smart thermostats and zoning can improve comfort and efficiency.
Filters, cleaning the system and upgraded radiators may be recommended.
A boiler quote is not just the price of a box. It covers the boiler itself, the labour to fit it, the flue, the removal of the old boiler, commissioning and the paperwork, and it may include controls, system cleaning and protection against limescale or sludge.
Two quotes can look quite different because one includes things the other leaves out, or because they assume different amounts of work. Moving a boiler from the kitchen to the loft, for example, involves much more than swapping one for another in the same place.
Make sure each quote covers the same boiler, controls, flue, removal of the old boiler and any extra work. A lower headline figure may leave items out, so ask what is and is not included.
Ask what warranty is included, who carries out the work and what aftercare is offered. A good quote should also tell you the make and model, the output, the type of controls and what happens if something goes wrong after installation.
The type of boiler is only the starting point. A combi suits many smaller homes, while a system or regular boiler comes with a cylinder, which changes the amount of work involved. Output also matters: a boiler that is too small struggles, and one that is too big wastes fuel, so we size it to your home rather than guessing.
The condition of the existing system affects the job too. Old radiators, tired pipework or a build-up of sludge may need attention, and it is far better to deal with those during the installation than to find out later. Our guide to combi, system and regular boilers explains the differences.
Before you agree to anything, ask who will carry out the work, whether they are Gas Safe registered, what is included in the quote and what happens if there is a problem after the job. Ask what the warranty covers and whether it depends on servicing, and ask how long the work will take and how they will protect your home.
A clear, written answer to each of those questions tells you a good deal about how the job will go.
Every home is different, so we visit, look at your current system and give you a written quote. There is no pressure to proceed.
A survey lets us check pipework, the flue route, hot water demand and where the boiler will sit, which avoids surprises on the day. It also lets us talk about whether a different approach, such as a heat pump or hybrid system, deserves a look.
The cheapest boiler is not always the best value. A well-chosen boiler that is correctly sized, properly installed and serviced regularly will usually serve you better, and cost less over its life, than a bargain that is wrong for your home.
Efficiency matters too. A more efficient boiler with good controls can reduce the fuel you use for the same level of comfort, and that adds up over the years you will own it.
